The Effect of Parental Child Abuse

This Image is not that of Emma

Little Emma is just three years old. At this age, what does a child know? Under the Law,he is a  "Dole Incapa" meaning one that is incapable of doing any wrong. He is a baby,an infant, one who's mind is "Tabular Rasa" as it were. How then can his parents hate him so much with a strange passion. They live behind my house and every  time i hear his mum scream "Emma come back here, idiot, animal, are you mad, do you want me to tear your eyes for you?". I equally hear strange sounds like someone is pounding something mercilessly which is usually followed by a loud, agonizing and painful cry. It turned out little Emma has just received severe beatings by his own mum. His dad on the other hand does not help matters as he equally relishes this sport. Often times i hear Emma's Dad yell "Emma go back inside before i hit you" which is usually equally followed by serious beatings and a loud cry. This goes on and on every day and neighbors keep wondering whether Emma is actually the son of the parents otherwise how could an innocent baby that age be so physically abused. This has become a dangerous trend pervading our society today.

Parental Child Abuse is another way of satanic worship. Parents who abuse their own children either physically, emotionally and even sexually are under serious satanic bondage wherein the devil exerts so much control over their minds making them do bizarre and strange things just to please him. This is satanism.

Children are the future of every society.Abused children and children who were not shown love by their parents end up being abusive and loveless themselves. Many dangerous criminals and prostitutes we have today are products of abusive parents. The reason is very simple, as we say in Law "Nemo Dat Quod Non Habeat- You cannot give what you don't have". Parents who abuse their own children should be treated as criminals. This is because they are breeding dangerous human beings for the society. Though they may not be around to harvest the deadly fruits of the dangerous seeds they sowed, the society suffers terribly for this.

The Child Rights Act which is an International Legislation enforced by UNICEF and accented to by Nigeria has provisions which may render any parent who engages in this vice liable to some term of imprisonment. Equally there are bodies in Nigeria which has the sole responsibility of protecting the interest, welfare and safety of the child.

Government should pay more attention to this dangerous development and also ensure the enforceability of the Child Rights Act in Nigeria. Further, Parental Child Abuse should be criminalized and any one who knows any child being abused by the parents should immediately report to the police. As they say "Every Child is Your Child" so let's all join hands and raise our children properly to make our society free, healthy and safe.
